Greetings, Comet Nation!
Happy Comet Pride Friday!
We have a full weekend of events on campus, from Football’s Spring Scrimmage to our last stretch of home games for Baseball and Softball…I also have some great news to share from DECA, and today is Multicultural Day on campus, too!
Football Spring Scrimmage at 9am on Saturday at Jerome Berg Field
Come check out the Football team, under new leadership with Coach Sean Thom and his staff.
Action begins at 9am, its a great way to start the weekend of Comet Action!
Comet Baseball and Softball Games Moved to Saturday & Sunday
Due to the wet weather (read: unexpected SNOW!) this week, the fields are given one more day to dry up a bit, so today’s games will be moved to Saturday & Sunday for the weekend series.
Baseball takes on Winnipeg at 1pm on Saturday, then 12pm on Sunday in some doubleheaders on both days.
Softball takes on Presentation College at 1pm on Saturday, then 12pm on Sunday.
Saturday is Family & Military Appreciation Day for the Baseball Team.
Captain Comet will try to bring some live action on Sunday for you from both teams through Facebook Live.
It will be the final home stretch of conference games for both teams, then the Playoffs begin soon after.
Come out after the FB spring scrimmage and stick around for the games on Saturday!
Mayville State University Collegiate DECA Participates in International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California
From April 19th through April 24st, 15 Mayville State University Collegiate DECA students participated in the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California. The annual conference provides the opportunity for students to compete against others from all over the world in business specific events. MSU students had to qualify for the Anaheim conference at the state competition held in Fargo, North Dakota this past February.
Collegiate DECA’s overlying mission is to “prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.” MSU Collegiate DECA is open to students in all majors. Students spend many hours fundraising, but also receive generous support from the Larson Leadership Program and the “After Hours” social events organized by the Division of Business.
As a team, the Mayville State University Chapter received the Community Service Award which is designed to recognize Collegiate DECA chapters for civic activities performed on campus and in their communities. Maddie Gallardo was recognized individually for her contributions to the state of North Dakota as a ND Collegiate DECA Vice President with the Outstanding State Leadership ribbon.
The MSU team received a chapter leadership award and all 15 students received individual leadership recognition on the stage at the Anaheim Hilton ballroom during the Leadership Passport Awards ceremony. The Collegiate DECA Leadership Passport Program encourages local chapters and individual members to plan activities and participate in events that enhance the experiences of members. The leadership passport rewards action taken by members and chapters that build personal and professional skill sets focused around the organizations four attributes and values: competence, innovation, integrity and teamwork. As part of the conference, students also participated in various Career Academies in which they had the opportunity to learn from business professionals in many different industries.
Results from the competitions, students, and awards are as followed:

As a chapter, we would like to send our sincerest thank you for all of the support that has been given to our organization. Without your help, our students would not have been able to take part in the great learning opportunity that is ICDC.
